Matthew Powell

Chief Executive Officer

With over 20 years of leadership experience and a record of success in high-growth technology markets, Matthew Powell joins Fat Spaniel as chief executive officer (CEO).  Matt was most recently CEO at Q-layer, a pioneering cloud computing software start-up which was acquired by Sun Microsystems in January, 2009.  Before Q-layer, Matt was president and CEO at Determina, Vernier Networks, and Siliquent Technologies.  He has an extensive track record of growing revenues, forging partnerships with industry leaders, and building highly effective global teams at companies such as Cisco Systems, StrataCom, and Netro Corporation.  Matt has an MBA from the Wharton School and a B.A. cum laude from Tulane University.

Hitesh Shah

Chief Financial Officer

With finance experience at multiple venture-funded technology groups, Hitesh Shah oversees Fat Spaniel’s financial management in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to joining Fat Spaniel Technologies, he was CFO of iPolicy Networks where he led financial integration of the global operations and assisted in securing substantial funding for the company. Hitesh also served as vice president of the WK Technology Fund, where he strengthened the existing portfolio through sourcing deals, developing financial plans and raising capital. Hitesh holds a BS degree in industrial engineering from Western Michigan University as well as an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Brett Francis

Vice President of Engineering & Software Architecture

Brett Francis brings more than 15 years of software engineering, enterprise architecture, and technology management experience to Fat Spaniel Technologies. His achievements include successful delivery of an agile enterprise-class SOA infrastructure for use in the highly-audited mortgage B2B market, a carrier-class unified messaging solution for the telecommunications market, and numerous hosted business process automation web applications. Prior to joining Fat Spaniel Technologies, Brett held the position of chief architect/senior vice president, Service Development, at the Merrill Lynch subsidiary, First Franklin Financial Corp. He holds a BS degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California.

Tom Tansy

Vice President of Business Development

Tom Tansy is a successful technology marketing professional with over 20 years of global experience. A visionary market leader, Tom co-founded Enterprise IT companies that were later acquired by Microsoft, Cisco, and F5 Corporation. More recently, he immersed himself in the alternative energy technology business and has helped jumpstart electric vehicle company Zero Motorcycles (www.zeromotorcycles.com) and lighter-than-air wind turbine company Magenn Corporation (www.magenn.com). Formerly, Tom was on the board of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
