Fat Spaniel Technologies Certified as a Green Business

Green Business
SAN JOSE, California — Fat Spaniel Technologies, a renewable energy monitoring company, today announced that it has been certified by Santa Clara County as a Green Business. The Green Business Program is a voluntary government and industry partnership designed to recognize businesses that commit to full compliance with environmental regulations and take steps to prevent pollution, reduce waste, and conserve resources. Fat Spaniel Technologies was certified for its commitment to the program's goals at its San Jose headquarters office. The company will be recognized for its environment-friendly business practices by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and the San Jose City Council at upcoming meetings, joining three dozen other county certified businesses.

Fat Spaniel Technologies has been committed to utilizing environmentally friendly measures since the company launched in 2003. As a company specializing in the solar energy industry, they've implemented business practices that will help to prevent and reduce waste and pollution, and decrease energy and water consumption.

In addition to following environmental best practices, Fat Spaniel Technologies was also able to utilize their own product in helping them become a certified Green Business. Their PV2Web™ monitoring solution offers management and control of energy usage to make efficient choices.  PV2Web has been one important way for the company to reduce their energy usage and provide cost savings for the company. Live data from the Fat Spaniel Technologies solar energy system is available at www.fatspaniel.com.

Their environmentally friendly efforts include:

  • Generating approximately 5,000 kilowatt-hours and averting more than 6,000 lbs. of CO2 production with a rooftop solar electric system
  • Monitoring building energy use, allowing efficient energy management and conservation
  • Recycling office waste and reusing shipping materials to reduce waste amounts for landfill disposal
  • Encouraging Cal-Train, Amtrak, VTA bus usage and carpooling, as well as work-from-home programs reducing automobile pollution and traffic congestion
  • Utilizing recycled materials wherever possible

“Joining the Green Business certification program demonstrates Fat Spaniel Technologies' continuing commitment to using environmentally friendly practices to deliver tools for the renewable energy industry,” said Chris Beekhuis, President of Fat Spaniel Technologies. “Through our energy saving efforts and our ongoing waste-management efforts, we have reduced our environmental impact, improved our bottom-line and hope to serve as an example for other local businesses.”
