Controller

This is a very high profile position, reporting directly to the CFO of the company. The position requires a self-motivated dynamic individual that can take a hands-on role in multiple areas including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and implementing internal controls. The Controller will also assist the company's CFO with special projects, accounting issues and other company matters.

This hands-on controller will be accountable for and oversee all aspects of financial reporting, financial audits, planning and analysis, revenue recognition, stock option accounting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and regulatory reporting.  


Key Responsibilities

Responsible for managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for Fat Spaniel Technologies.

  • Responsible for all accounting functions including but not limited to Revenue Recognition, Stock option Accounting, Fixed Assets, Royalty Accounting, Payroll Accounting.
  • Oversee/review Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly and annual audit and statutory schedules Oversee and coordinate timely month-end close
  • Responsible for recommendation and implementation of improvements and changes to accounting controls, processes, and procedures.
  • Capable of implementing an ERP system.
  • Works with departments external to accounting services to ensure integrity of accounting controls, processes and procedures, SOX compliance.
  • Special projects as assigned by manager.
  • Applies expert knowledge and understanding across all related functional disciplines.
  • Makes proposals to senior management regarding financial implications of proposed tactical plans and suggests contingency plans/trade-offs for mitigating risks; initiates and leads financial strategy discussions.
  • Applies knowledge of FST's business strategies to proactively anticipate business needs based on industry trends.
  • Provides strategic leadership within one's functional area.
  • Participates with other senior managers to establish corporate strategic plans and objectives.
  • Handles controversial situations, customer/client negotiations or influences and persuades senior management.
Job Requirements
  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Quickbooks experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance ,MBA desirable
  • 5 years of organization and management experience
  • Minimum 5 years financial accounting experience
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
  • Excellent Excel knowledge  
  • Capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • SEC/ Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred

Flash Designer

The Flash Designer is a key member of the Art department. This individual must work well in a deadline driven environment with rapidly changing priorities, high volume of on-going projects, and very fast turn-around times.

The Flash Designer will create informational presentations for clients that will include live data over the internet, develop touch screen Kiosks at customer sites, support the current website with new company data.

In addition to Flash projects, the individual will also be asked to work on non-Flash design projects using Photoshop, DreamWeaver, and Illustrator. S/he should also have a strong sense of design and ability to create interesting graphic layouts.

The Flash Designer will report to and collaborate closely with the Creative Director to develop high-impact, result-oriented projects.

This is an onsite position only.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator , and DreamWeaver
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of layout and design with a keen eye for improving current web presence
  • Team player seasoned in working under tight deadlines, but staying cool under pressure
  • Extremely detail oriented, and organized
  • Comfortable with PC and Mac and understand usability issues
  • >BA/BS/BFA or equivalent experience

IT Engineer - Production


The position will report to the Director of Engineering.   The IT engineer will develop and maintain infrastructure in the data center supporting core products. This infrastructure requires active involvement with the development cycle as well the development team building critical system, build and data management tools. The infrastructure developed will help improve reliability, recovery and consistency across Fat Spaniel's data center.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in System administration, implementing and maintaining and supporting complex enterprise UNIX/LINUX and related applications.
  • Experience in design, implementation & troubleshooting of heterogeneous LANs, WANs.
  • Experience working with all aspects of in-house development as well as production systems, developing and supporting application in open source environment like Perl, PHP, C, C++ Shell scripting, Java, and HTML.
  • Installing configuring and maintaining websites on Apache web server, TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, NIS, Naming Service, Samba along with hands-on experience in configuring, tuning and supporting MySQL.

Education

  • BS or equivalent

J2EE Engineer - Server-side Tools


The position will report to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for the development of critical system, build and data management tools used for the administration of Fat Spaniel 's products. The tools developed will help improve productivity, automate corporate processes, and increase reliability and customer response time.


Requirements

  • Experience developing data reports, scripts, process automation and web applications
  • Familiarity with Java and J2EE APIs, SQL database (ideally MySQL), HTTP/HTML, XML, WSDL, Web Services, UNIX/Linux command line and shell programming (Bash)
  • Software version control (ideally CVS or SVN)
  • Build environments (Ant, GNU Make)
  • Experience with PHP/PERL, Apache Jetspeed, AJAX and Actuate BIRT is a plus

Education
  • BSCS or equivalent
