Fat Spaniel Technologies Provides Monitoring Solution for Colorado Convention Center

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Denver’s New 300-kilowatt Solar Power System - a Landmark Renewable Energy Solution for a Public Venue

DENVER, Colo., March 18, 2009 — Fat Spaniel Technologies, Inc., a provider of monitoring and reporting services for renewable energy systems, announced its participation in the opening ceremonies for the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Fat Spaniel’s Insight ManagerTM provides comprehensive monitoring capabilities for the site’s solar power solution, and also enables a public kiosk that shows visitors how the center has “gone green.”

Accurate monitoring and reporting contribute to the cost-effective operations, and also provide the transparency and accountability required for the public-private partnership between the city and the center’s owners and operators. Tax credits and incentives were essential for funding the project, and the Fat Spaniel services simplified meeting eligibility requirements.

“Our partnership with Fat Spaniel Technologies gave us best-in-class technology that helped us meet the needs of this large-scale project,” says Stephen Kane, Co-owner and Service Director of Namasté Solar. “Insight Manager allows us to tailor intuitive views for the operations team, helping them to maximize solar electric generation. Fat Spaniel’s service also facilitates information sharing with venue employees, investors, and the general public. This degree of transparency is vital to the ongoing success of the industry.”

The Colorado Convention Center represents a landmark renewable energy project, with a 300-kilowatt solar power system providing some of the energy needed for the 30,000-square-foot venue. The solar array demonstrates Denver’s commitment to the environment and will result in a reduction of 435 tons of carbon emissions per year. The site features 1310 high-efficiency solar panels, and Fat Spaniel’s Insight Manager provides at-a-glance and detailed views of the complete installation that can be accessed anytime and anywhere, using only a web browser. MMA Renewable Ventures, which owns and operates the system gains a cost-effective management platform and can also use the Fat Spaniel service to provide open access to venue employees, investors, and the general public.

“Fat Spaniel solutions are helping governments like the City of Denver take advantage of renewable energy to reduce costs and carbon emissions,” said Chris Beekhuis, president and CTO of Fat Spaniel Technologies. “Our open architecture also enables a solution that can scale and evolve to take advantage of the latest device innovations, allowing the City to benefit from operational efficiencies for years to come.”
