As you may already know, Power-One Inc. has recently acquired the assets of Fat Spaniel Technologies Inc., a leading provider of lifecycle management software for renewable energy assets.

I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you of certain activities. Firstly, it has come to our attention that certain customers have received letters relating to the bankruptcy of Fat Spaniel Technologies inc. Please note that Power-One purchased the “assets” of Fat Spaniel which includes amongst other things, the full technology portfolio, the trade name and all intellectual property rights. It is an important distinction that we acquired the assets as opposed the trading corporation.

What does this mean to customers / partners of Fat Spaniel?

Power-One will continue to take orders and support all ongoing needs and product / software requirements. Essentially it is business as normal and Power-One has retained the core engineering, sales, service and customer support team at Fat Spaniel. What can customers / partners of Fat Spaniel expect in the future

As previously described, Power-One is the second largest manufacturer of solar inverters globally with residential, commercial and utility grade solutions. Renewable Energy products include Aurora ® power inverters for solar and wind applications.

Power-One’s Renewable Energy Solutions has seen remarkable growth in the past three years through our Aurora inverters. We view the addition of the Fat Spaniel’s open platform technology as a natural fit to our business model. We will retain the open platform philosophy.

Through the augmentation and ongoing enhancement of Fat Spaniel’s lifecycle management solutions with Power-One’s Aurora inverters, we will provide critical insight into revenue-generating renewable energy assets. We believe that the combined solutions will enable energy producers to increase energy harvest and performance ratios; cut the costs of operations & maintenance; reduce operational and financial risk; and improve return on investment.
